This is the Monday Message for the week of 10/16-10/20. Each week (when there is school on Monday) you will receive a message from us with updates on upcoming events and news from GRMS.

Calendar Updates:

- On Friday, October 20th, all schools will be closed for students.

Today is the final day for students to request a locker for this school year!!!!!

If students would like to be assigned a school locker in which to place  coats, hats, extra school supplies, cell phones, lunch, etc. during the school day, please complete this form by Monday October 16th. Lockers will then be distributed to students during this week. Lockers can be used in the morning when entering the building, before and after lunch and at the end of the day during dismissal.

7th Grade Zoo Field Trip

A reminder that all field trip permission slips are due by Thursday, October 19th.

And now, a message from Ms. Lassiter, on student planner use:

After getting some feedback from staff,  here's a list of ways teachers are using their planners:

  • Homework
  • Hallway passport
  • Setting Goals and End of week reflection
  • Notes home from teacher
  • Special bathroom passes from the nurse
  • Upcoming assignments

Please encourage your children to review their planner with you on a daily basis. Students should be using their planner for the purposes mentioned above.

A message from the athletic department:

The winter sports season is quickly approaching!  

We offer both girls and boys basketball in the winter season. Tryouts for winter sports will take place this year on November 15th and teams will be selected and continue practicing by November 20th .  In order to try out, parents/guardians must complete all the following. Please read carefully. 

Current Sports Physical: 

Physicals are good for 14 months from the last date the student was seen by a physician. Paper copies of a blank sports physical can be picked up at school. 

Completed sports physicals can be uploaded to Form Releaf website (see below) or a paper copy can be brought into school and turned into the school nurse.   

Registering on FormReLeaf: 

Parents must register their student-athlete for athletics using the website https://app.formreleaf.com/login  Directions for doing so are below. 

Signup for your FormReLeaf account by entering your name, e-mail address and password; confirm your password.  Agree to the FormReLeaf Terms of Service.  

  1. Now login to FormReLeaf using your credentials (email address and password)  

New users: On the top menu bar select “Find Organization”  and then search for Golden Ring Middle School

  1. Click on the Program (“23-2024 Winter Athletic Registration”)   
  2. After clicking on the appropriate Sport, complete all required information and upload the physical.  You may also send a paper copy of the physical to school. Sign (using your mouse/finger/stylus) in those fields where appropriate.  When finished click “Submit”   

The Athletic Office will verify all registrations once submitted.  

If you need help at any point of the registration process, you may call FormReLeaf Customer Support, Monday through Saturday at (844) 367-6735.  

In addition to registering through FormReLeaf, the following forms must be completed and submitted through FormReLeaf. 

  • Completed Athletic Permit. (Must include the insurance information) 
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Parent and Student Acknowledgement 
  • Option to upload a completed Physical Evaluation Form signed by the student-athletes doctor clearing him/her to participate in athletics- this can be uploaded or a paper copy can be sent into school. 

Per Baltimore County Public Schools policy, all forms must be submitted for students to try out and participate in athletics. Student athletes who have incomplete registration will not be allowed to try out for the team. 

Grade Requirements: 

  • BCPS policy states that student-athletes MUST have a 2.0 GPA with no more than one failing grade on their 4th quarter report card to try out for fall sports (incoming 6th graders are exempt). 

Tryout Dates and Times: 

Tryouts will take place on the following dates. It is required that student-athletes attend all days of tryouts.  

November 15, 16, 17 and 20th if needed.  

Winter Sports Competitions Occur on the following dates: 

Tuesdays and Thursdays starting the second week of December and ending the second week of February or before.  Games may be rescheduled or canceled due to weather.  No practices will take place during winter break. 

The Chat & Chew and Meet the Coaches Required Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday November 21st directly after practices.  A parent representative is required for each student athlete so please make sure to arrange a parent or guardian to attend.
